Artist Statement
Performing has always been one of my most favorite things in life and in dance. I have a deep desire to entertain and share my craft. I also find such a thrill performing in pieces that are thought provoking and carry a significant meaning. It is one of my firmest beliefs that dance is not only for entertainment purposes but can also be used to bring awareness to current issues. I find it so impactful when a piece urges me to want to know more about an issue or topic. Dancers express their voice through their movement and being able to use that voice to express our feelings towards the condition of our society right now is such a special gift. Being a woman in a time where, statistically, one in three women are subject to assault and decisions such as overturning Roe v Wade are being made, it is especially important to me to find an outlet for my voice. As a performer I aim to leave a lasting impact on my viewers. If I can give a performance that provokes a meaningful thought but also makes someone smile and possibly laugh, I feel fulfilled.
